Role Selection: Redesign

Redesigned for ease and efficiency

Problem

In 2017, the publication management application was originally designed with 9 roles in mind. By 2021, the application contained more than 25 roles. As the roles were added, the UI was not redesigned to accommodate the ever growing list. The current role selection wasn’t working for the increasing number of users navigating the application. It was requested the screen be redesigned to correlate ‘Group Roles’ and individual ‘Role Types’.

Proposed Changes

The initial mock up did a better job of organizing the roles and reducing some of the scrolling, however, it needed further exploration.

Initial Mockup

The next set of mock ups simplifies the UI even further. They highlight the ‘Group Roles’ and nest the individual ‘Role Types’ in draws that open/collapse with the use of a chevron. The user can choose to have one or multiple draws open.
